About the company
I am recruiting a Front End Developer/Designer (preferably with Umbraco CMS skills) for a specialist leisure/recreational activity business. This role is hybrid, with 2 days per week in their Southampton head office.
You will work with Umbraco CMS for their new corporate website launching in June. Experience with this or similar CMS like Drupal or WordPress is preferred.
The organisation is one of the UK's oldest leisure companies, with a history spanning 150 years. They are well-known and operate one of the most successful sports teams globally within their sector.
Your new role
You will manage all front-end activities, combining development and design skills to ensure a clean, on-brand user experience. Responsibilities include overseeing design support, page builds, content edits, and UI/UX best practices. You will work to improve website accessibility, customer journeys, and overall performance, and will create and maintain documentation for front-end processes.
Reporting to the Head of Digital, you will be part of a small, experienced team introducing Umbraco to handle over 100,000 monthly visitors. You will manage a Junior Designer initially and lead web projects and digital campaigns, promoting web best practices.
There is potential for progression to a Lead position and management roles in the future.
Requirements
You will lead the implementation of the new Umbraco front-end for the company's flagship website, focusing on Web Design, Content Management, and UX/UI (initially 80% Design, 20% Development).
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in Front End Development/Design, preferably with Umbraco or similar CMS platforms. Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery are essential. Experience in UX/UI Design, responsive design, web accessibility, Adobe Creative Suite, and Technical SEO principles is highly desirable.
What you will get
The company invests in training, offering opportunities to become certified in Umbraco and other CMS platforms. Benefits include 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, up to 10% pension match, flexible working hours within a 35-hour week, modern office space with good parking and transport links, and life insurance.
