Job description

Remote | Occasional Travel to North West | Full-Time

Our client, a progressive housing association, is seeking a Capital Accountant to lead financial modelling, forecasting, and funding strategies for affordable housing projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Capital Accountant with a passion for social housing, financial planning, and strategic decision-making.

Why Join Our Client?

Our client is a growing Registered Provider (RP) with a mission to deliver truly affordable homes across the North West. Having gained RP status, they are in an exciting phase of expansion, aiming to grow their portfolio from 500 to 1,000 homes by next year and 3,000 homes in the next eight years.

To support this growth, they require a highly skilled Capital Accountant to ensure the financial viability of new-build social housing schemes and to provide strategic financial insights that will secure funding for expansion.

The Role: Driving Financial Strategy for Affordable Housing

As a Capital Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in structuring the financial viability of housing development schemes. Your expertise in forecasting, planning, and presenting financial business cases will be instrumental in securing funding and ensuring that loans for housing development projects can be sustainably repaid.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop detailed financial viability models for new-build housing projects.
  2. Conduct budget forecasting and cost analysis to support project planning.
  3. Prepare loan applications and financial statements for funding approvals.
  4. Provide strategic financial analysis to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  5. Work closely with local councils, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  6. Support the transition to Housing Bricks financial modelling software while continuing advanced Excel-based modelling.
  7. Present business cases to lenders and funding partners, demonstrating how investment in housing projects will be repaid over time.
  8. Assess and mitigate financial risks while ensuring best practices in capital accounting.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  1. Extensive experience in capital accounting, financial modelling, and forecasting.
  2. Strong background in budget planning, loan applications, and compliance reporting.
  3. Prior experience preparing financial business cases for loan approvals.
  4. Ability to engage with auditors, funding bodies, and senior stakeholders.
  5. Strong knowledge of Registered Provider financial regulations and grant funding processes (advantageous but not essential).
  6. Housing Bricks software experience (preferred but not essential).

Salary & Benefits:

  1. Bonus: Performance-based incentives
  2. Flexible & Remote Work: Primarily home-based with occasional travel to the North West
  3. Training & Development: Opportunities to enhance skills and leadership capabilities
  4. Work-Life Balance: Support for flexible working arrangements
