As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Chief Technology Office, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technically with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or analyze technical problems.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
• Resolve customer escalations and production incidents, and lead the completion of post-mortem analysis documents.
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
• Contribute to team culture emphasizing equity and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience in building and operating highly scalable systems in a globally distributed team.
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Knowledge of automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines like cloud, AI, ML, mobile, etc.
• Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems.
• Practical experience with cloud technologies.

Additional skills and qualifications

• Fluency in the full engineering stack, including TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with modern continuous delivery tools like Spinnaker, Harness, and ArgoCD.
• Experience in building and operating scalable systems on AWS.
• Leadership experience in software engineering projects across multiple teams.
• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems.
• Background in internal developer platforms.
