Opportunity:

iO Associates GD&S have partnered up with an established organisation who are looking for a highly skilled Senior Test Consultant to join a dynamic, agile delivery team working on innovative central government projects. This is a critical role where the successful candidate will take the lead in embedding both manual and automated testing practices across the full software development lifecycle.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a passion for quality assurance, this position offers the chance to contribute to meaningful work with national impact.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust automated test frameworks across UI and API layers
  • Conduct manual and exploratory testing where appropriate
  • Leverage a range of open-source testing tools and frameworks
  • Embed testing best practices (TDD, BDD, ATDD) into CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, DevOps, and analysts
  • Continuously improve the test architecture and QA processes
  • Support non-functional testing, including performance, security, accessibility, and operational acceptance
  • Participate in QA guilds and contribute to internal knowledge sharing

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in manual and automation testing
  • Proven expertise in Selenium and Java
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps culture
  • A proactive, self-directed approach and a passion for quality

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of TDD, BDD, or ATDD methodologies
  • Exposure to performance, accessibility, or security testing tools
  • Experience working in similar, highly regulated environments
