Job summary

A leading technology consultancy in the UK is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with strong backend development skills in Java, Node.js, and AWS. This hands-on role involves working in a highly classified environment to design and deploy secure applications alongside a multi-disciplinary delivery team. Applicants must have active UK DV clearance. Competitive day rate of £650 offered for a 6-month contract.

Qualifications

  • Solid experience with AWS services and cloud deployment.
  • Comfortable building APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins).

Job description

Location: Gloucester (3 days per week on-site) Day Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35) Duration: 6 months initially Clearance: Active eDV required

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong backend development skills across Java, Node.js, and AWS.

This is a hands-on engineering role within a highly classified environment, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of secure, cloud-hosted applications. You’ll be working alongside a multi-disciplinary delivery team in a hybrid agile setting, with a focus on building robust and scalable backend services.

Key Skills:

  • Strong backend development with Java (Java 11+ preferred) Proven use of Node.js in production environments Solid experience with AWS services and cloud deployment Comfortable building APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems CI/CD tools and practices (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins) Containerisation (Docker, ECS, or EKS) Familiarity with AWS services like Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, IAM

**Please note this role requires active UK*C DV Clearance.
