We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of a Educational Welfare Officer, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £115- £125 per day

Summary:

The Education Welfare Officer provides vital support to improve pupil attendance and promote inclusion across Caerphilly. Operating under the guidance of the Lead EWO, the role involves direct work with pupils, families, schools, and multi-agency partners to address barriers to education, prevent disaffection, and reduce the risk of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all children in the designated area are attending school or an appropriate education setting.
  • Establish regular contact with allocated schools to provide attendance support.
  • Liaise with statutory and voluntary services, including health, police, and social services.
  • Prepare and serve legal notices and orders relating to persistent absence.
  • Maintain and update case files securely (paper and electronic).

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ, BTEC, or Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales)
  • Experience working in a statutory or educational setting
  • Experience collaborating with multiple agencies
  • Certificate/Diploma in Social Work, or National Occupational Standard in Education Welfare(Desirable)
  • Knowledge of current education legislation and attendance policies
  • Understanding of the barriers to school attendance and pupil wellbeing
  • Familiarity with multi-agency approaches and safeguarding procedures

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
