Job summary

Spen Valley High School in Roberttown is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to help deliver targeted support for students with Special Educational Needs within the classroom. The role involves building rapport, supporting both one-to-one and small groups, and promoting an inclusive learning environment.

You will work term-time only, with hours 8:30am–3:00pm (4pm on Mondays for CPD), and you may be developing experience for teacher training. A DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.

Job description

The role is term time only working hours 8.30am - 3pm (4pm on a Monday to attend CPD)

The role involves delivering both one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), while also fulfilling the broader responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant within the classroom as required. A key aspect of this position is developing positive, trusting relationships with some of the school’s most vulnerable learners. By building strong rapport and understanding each student’s individual needs, the role aims to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This enables students to engage more confidently in their education, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve their full potential through tailored and effective support.
