Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
- The EA Psychology Service works in partnership with parents, schools, and professionals to support children's development and learning, especially those facing difficulties.
- The post holder will provide psychological services under supervision, working at various levels within the education system, linking casework to policy development, and supporting children directly and indirectly.
- Educational Psychologists aim to foster positive, inclusive environments that promote resilience and mental health among children and young people.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Early Intervention and Consultation
- Consult with schools to develop preventive and early intervention strategies.
- Coordinate with statutory organizations to meet the needs of children with emergent special educational needs.
2. Assessment and Intervention
- Conduct developmental and psychological assessments for children with Special Educational Needs.
- Advise parents and teachers on meeting children's needs.
- Contribute to statutory assessments and intervention planning.
3. Management of Activities
- Manage a caseload, prioritize workload, and maintain records.
- Participate in clinics and working groups as required.
4. Raising Achievement and Organisational Development
- Align with EA objectives and contribute evidence of effective practices.
- Assist in implementing ICT strategies and collaborate across sections.
5. Service Development
- Contribute to service development and team meetings.
- Participate in staff appraisals and work with schools on whole-school strategies.
6. Training
- Attend professional development courses and assist in training psychologists and other professionals.
- Provide guidance to EA officers, schools, and parents.
7. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise clerical staff, psychologists in training, and assistants as required.
8. Supervision Received
- Supervision by the Principal and Senior Educational Psychologists, including induction and appraisal.
9. Work Complexity
- Engage in complex problem-solving using psychological theories, requiring systematic, analytical, creative, and imaginative approaches to support children with learning and behavioral difficulties.
