Alongside consultation and statutory work, our Educational Psychologists contribute to multi‑agency locality working, mental health initiatives, neurodevelopmental pathways, inclusion projects, critical incident response, early intervention and county‑wide service development.
We believe Educational Psychologists should have opportunities to shape services, influence practice, develop specialist expertise and build meaningful partnerships with schools, families and wider professionals, not simply deliver statutory responsibilities.
Alongside statutory responsibilities, you’ll work collaboratively with school communities to promote inclusion, strengthen practice, develop staff confidence and create positive outcomes for children and young people. You’ll be encouraged to shape services, influence practice and develop specialist interests that make a lasting difference . In Somerset, Educational Psychologists play a key role in the developing Experts at Hand model, using psychological expertise alongside partner professionals to build capacity and support needs earlier within mainstream settings.
Applications will be reviewed throughout the advertising period, and interviews may be arranged before the closing date for suitable candidates.
We are also building a talent pipeline for future opportunities and welcome conversations with candidates considering a move now or in the future.
At Somerset Council, we’re a progressive organisation committed to improving lives and shaping better services for our communities. Based in one of England’s most beautiful counties, it’s a great place to build your career and enjoy an excellent quality of life.
