Educational Psychologist Position
Location: South Coast
Pay rate: £650 per day
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Educational Psychologist (EP) to carry out psychological assessments and provide the Local Authority with psychological advice for Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments. The role involves supporting the Local Authority in meeting its responsibilities for pupils with special educational needs, providing direct support to schools and early years settings, and working collaboratively with other agencies to promote positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. This includes delivering statutory and traded services, completing assessments and reports within deadlines, and working effectively within the locality.
Ideal Candidate
- Professional qualification in Educational Psychology at Masters Level or final year doctorate candidate in Educational Psychology.
- Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
- Good Honors degree in psychology or equivalent recognized by the British Psychological Society.
- Additional relevant qualifications in areas related to EP work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality assessments for children and young people facing learning barriers due to cognitive, communication, physical, sensory, medical, behavioral, emotional, or social difficulties.
- Provide a high-quality educational psychology service, including statutory assessments, Annual Reviews, and EHCP planning, both within and outside of Borough.
- Lead joint problem-solving and Team Around the Child meetings to develop effective interventions involving families and professionals.
- Participate in and promote local team processes such as Early Help Record and Plan, Lead Professional, and Team Around the Child & Family.
- Work systemically with schools to identify and reduce barriers to learning.
- Represent EPS & Locality Team at meetings, panels, and case conferences.
- Develop and deliver training for schools, LA staff, professionals, and parents/carers.
- Plan and implement interventions, collect data, and undertake research to improve services.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
- Deliver high-quality EPS support for children and young people aged 0-25, focusing on teaching, learning, and social-emotional development.
- Participate in HR processes, including appraisal, attendance, and performance management.
- Maintain registration with the Health & Care Professions Council and other relevant professional bodies.
