Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Cheshire Mental Health Support Team (MHST) based in Cheshire West.

Position: Band 5 Education Mental Health Practitioner (CYPWP)

The practitioner will collaborate with colleagues in the Cheshire West MHST, based in Chester, working closely with education settings and professionals supporting children, young people, and their families. Our team covers schools in Chester, Northwich, and Ellesmere Port.

The role involves working directly with schools, colleges, and settings to provide information, advice, and guidance through consultation, training, direct work with children, young people, and their families, and delivering evidence-based interventions.

Applicants must have professional registration with a recognized national body (e.g., BPS, BABCP) or be able to obtain this within 6 months of the start date. If the applicant does not hold registration, they will be recruited on a 6-month fixed-term contract, which will be extended to 2 years once registration is confirmed.

This is a pivotal time for Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services; we invite you to be part of this development.

The post-holder will work within the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Mental Health Support Team (Cheshire West MHST), providing assessments and interventions on an individual and systemic basis under close clinical supervision from experienced staff.

Regular case management and clinical supervision, both individual and group, are integral to the role.

The post-holder will deliver a range of 1:1 and group Low Intensity CBT-based interventions for children, young people, and parents/carers.
