The Person and the role

This is a field-based role supporting young people either in their homes, outreach, or at the post-16 hubs across Oxfordshire (within 30 min travel time from home address). Working closely with the Post 16 leads, this role is central to ensuring quality of provision and securing outcomes.

This role will support the foundation's mission of enhancing the wellbeing and life opportunities of children and young people by providing a bespoke education whilst supporting personal development and social and emotional needs.

This role requires a certain degree of autonomy, therefore an organised approach that is child-centred is needed.

This role will champion The Dare2Dream Foundation's core values and will actively market the services the foundation provides to the children and young people it supports.

Role

You will play a crucial role in supporting young people's wellbeing and mental health whilst supporting/encouraging academic achievement. This position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on children's learning and development.

In addition, pastoral support will help young people overcome barriers to learning and support mental health and wellbeing needs.

Purpose

The purpose of the role is to deliver high-quality sessions and pastoral support to young people attending the post-16 provision.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with learners to increase their confidence and self-esteem
  • Delivery of programmes to support Personal Development according to individual learning plans
  • Delivery of Asdan and Functional Skills (according to learner levels and teaching ability)
  • Plan and deliver sessions with young people through various methods, supporting the development and production of teaching and learning materials and resources in both manual and electronic formats
  • Ensure learning and support programmes meet the required criteria
  • Create and maintain professional working relationships with employers, learners, and other key stakeholders
  • Monitor learner attendance and review the learner's progress
  • Create reports for all programmes
  • Set targets with learners and work with them to achieve these
  • Engage support teams with programmes, ensuring they are involved in progress reviews
  • Actively participate in all quality improvement processes
  • Ensure all learner records are kept up to date and meet internal quality standards
  • Ensure that all correspondence from the organisation is of the required standard and tone

Accountabilities And Other Responsibilities Of The Role

You will also work in a team by:

  • Supporting young people within a designated team
  • Completing risk assessments
  • Motivating, challenging, and inspiring young people
  • Demonstrating best practice with safeguarding procedures
  • Providing ideas for new ways of working
  • Supporting the team with day-to-day needs and requirements
  • Demonstrating outcomes reached
  • Communicating and reflecting progress and attainment towards desired outcomes
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are followed and contributing to reviews as needed
  • Completing regular safeguarding training
  • Following reporting procedures to ensure the welfare of young people
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational policies regarding Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, and Health & Safety
  • Maintaining appropriate behaviour and development of young people
  • Attending regular meetings with management and professionals around the child, and with parents/carers
  • Maintaining records in line with quality assurance policies, ensuring confidentiality
  • Managing and accurately recording delivery and resources at the central venue
  • Building good relationships with young people to ensure they feel supported
  • Promoting equal opportunities and confidentiality

Essential Job-related Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

  • Experience working in social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties settings (SEBD)
  • Understanding of working with children in need, including emotional and therapeutic support
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Qualification in a relevant field (minimum Level 3) such as mental health, counselling, youth work, education, childhood studies
  • Ability to manage referrals and maintain confidential records within GDPR guidelines
  • Excellent report writing skills to demonstrate progress and outcomes
  • Full clean driving licence with ability to travel across the county and further if required
  • A strong desire to support vulnerable children and young people
  • Experience in planning, delivering, and assessing academic support at secondary/post-16 level

Desired

  • Over 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable children and young people with complex needs
  • Level 4+ relevant qualification or above
  • Teaching qualification

Hours of Work
