A dedicated youth support organization is seeking a field-based professional to support young people's wellbeing and mental health across Oxfordshire. Qualifications

  • Experience in academic support at secondary/post 16 level.

The Person and the Role

This is a field-based role supporting young people either in their homes, outreach, or at the post 16 hubs across Oxfordshire (within 30 min travel time from home address). Working closely with the Post 16 leads, this role is central to ensuring quality of provision and securing outcomes. It aims to support the foundation's mission of enhancing the wellbeing and life opportunities of children and young people by providing bespoke education while supporting personal development and social and emotional needs. The role requires a certain degree of autonomy, so an organized, child-centered approach is essential. The successful candidate will champion The Dare2Dream Foundation's core values and actively market the services provided to children and young people.

You will play a crucial role in supporting young people's wellbeing and mental health, encouraging academic achievement, and providing pastoral support to help young people overcome barriers to learning. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's learning and development.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with learners to boost confidence and self-esteem
  • Deliver programmes supporting Personal Development, including Asdan and Functional Skills
  • Plan and deliver engaging sessions, supporting the development of teaching materials in manual and electronic formats
  • Ensure programmes meet required standards
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with employers, learners, and stakeholders
  • Monitor attendance and review learner progress
  • Create reports and set targets with learners
  • Engage support teams in programmes and progress reviews
  • Participate in quality improvement processes
  • Maintain up-to-date learner records meeting quality standards
  • Handle correspondence professionally
Accountabilities and Other Responsibilities
  • Support team efforts to assist young people
  • Complete risk assessments
  • Motivate and inspire young people
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and demonstrate best practices
  • Support daily team needs and demonstrate outcomes achieved
  • Communicate progress effectively
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed, including safeguarding, GDPR, and confidentiality
  • Attend regular meetings with management and professionals involved with the young people
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Build supportive relationships with young people
  • Promote equal opportunities and confidentiality in all activities
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

Essential:

  • Experience working with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD)
  • Understanding of working with children in need, including emotional and therapeutic support
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relevant qualification (minimum Level 3) in mental health, counselling, youth work, education, or childhood studies
  • Ability to manage referrals and maintain confidential records within GDPR guidelines
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Full clean driving license with ability to travel across the county
  • Desire to support vulnerable children and young people
  • Experience in academic support at secondary/post 16 level

Desired:

  • Over 2 years' experience working with vulnerable children and young people with complex needs
  • Level 4 or higher relevant qualification
  • Teaching qualification

Hours of Work
