Job description

Education Welfare – Elective Home Education (EHE) Officer #0009E4581

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

We require agency cover within the Education Welfare Service for 15 weeks. Applicants must be aware this is a temporary position which is unlikely to lead to a permanent position.

Postholders should have worked in schools, preferably within school attendance as the role involves working with schools to increase attendance of pupils and also to manage a caseload for those families that choose to Electively Home Educate (EHE).

Postholders must have a valid enhanced DBS for working with children and adults.

To manage a caseload working as part of a multi-agency team to support the Local Authority's statutory duty, ensuring every child receives a suitable education by adopting a whole family, strengths-based approach in order to reduce risk, thus increasing resilience and improving outcomes for children. Lead and attend multi-agency meetings to help support a better outcome for the family and inevitably improve the child/young person’s school attendance.

To implement the delivery of a high-performing targeted service meeting the requirements of the DfE and local guidelines.

To ensure that services are delivered in compliance with relevant legislation, local and national policy and guidance in challenging, difficult, and sensitive circumstances.

You must have:

  1. Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  2. References required for the last 5 years of employment.
