We are:
The Royal Alexandra and Albert School exists to give our children a distinctly different start in life, preparing them for the world with hope, optimism, compassion and empathy.
We are a 'Good' school (Ofsted, April 2024), which is vibrant and purposeful. We are a co-educational, non-selective state boarding school, for children aged 7 - 18. This is a boarding school with Flexi Boarding students attending from the local area and a lively community of around 400 Full Boarders, passionately involved in a wide range of after-school and weekend activities and trips.
Our Ofsted inspection of March 2024 states "pupils are happy and well cared for at Royal Alexandra and Albert School. They benefit from positive relationships with staff across the school. Pupils feel safe, confident that if they report any concerns or worries they will be dealt with."
You will need to have the commitment and enthusiasm to be part of a lively, well managed and successful team. The staff in the Science department enjoy their work and strive to deliver interesting and stimulating lessons. There is a supportive climate in which there is much cooperation, resulting in detailed schemes of work and excellent resources.
The successful candidate will be given full support and will engage in further professional development as part of RAAS' commitment to ongoing training of all teachers. The successful applicant must be comfortable teaching A-level Biology.
Please be aware that we run a compulsory Enrichment programme for all students on a Saturday morning between 9am - 11.30am, and this is part of a full-time teacher's contract. In return, the school breaks for the summer in early July each year and has a two week October half-term. Ideally, the successful candidate will work three days during the week and also deliver Enrichment, but this is negotiable.
