Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking an Education Teacher at the Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre. You will deliver inclusive learning programmes—ESOL, literacy, numeracy, IT and more—to residents from diverse backgrounds to build confidence and future opportunities.

The role requires TEFL/ESOL/CELTA qualifications, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. It offers a busy schedule with day, evening and weekend work, plus a comprehensive benefit package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor learner progress, mark work and maintain accurate records of attendance, achievements and individual learning plans.
• Promote education opportunities across the centre and encourage participation from residents.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across activities, residential services, faith provision and safer communities' teams to support equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Maintain safe, secure and professional learning environments while complying with all operational, security and regulatory requirements.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial
