Job summary

YardandGroom is seeking Education Support Workers to assist in our Equine Assisted Alternative Education program. This part-time, term-time role has a salary agreed according to experience.

You will support young people with additional educational needs, adapt to each learner’s communication, sensory and emotional needs, and help with horse care, safe handling, yard activities and practical learning. No formal qualification is required, but equine experience or relevant learner-support or

• No specific qualification is mandatory. We welcome applicants with relevant equine qualifications or practical equine experience, or experience as a teaching assistant, support worker or in a similar learner-support role.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group support, adapting to each learner’s communication, sensory, emotional and learning needs.
• Help learners engage in horse care, safe handling, yard activities and other practical learning.
• Support riding and groundwork activities where appropriate to your experience, training and agreed responsibilities.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive relationships through a patient, responsive approach.
• Help maintain a safe, supportive environment and follow safeguarding procedures, reporting concerns promptly.
• Complete daily observations and records, contributing to progress reports and EHCP reviews.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and follow our values, policies and procedures.
