Education Support Worker
Location: Totnes, Devon
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier by negotiation)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to reach their full potential? Our client, a well-regarded special school based in the heart of Totnes, is seeking a caring, resilient and proactive Education Support Worker to join their dedicated team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.

Our client is a nurturing and inclusive special school that places wellbeing, creativity, and personal growth at the heart of its approach. Set in a beautiful rural location, the school provides a calm, therapeutic and structured learning environment, where every student is supported to thrive academically, emotionally and socially.

As an Education Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will help deliver tailored interventions, promote engagement, and provide consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day. Your presence will be key to building trust and helping students develop confidence and independence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN, SEMH or care setting
  • Be calm, compassionate, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
  • Be flexible, positive and a strong team player
  • Be passionate about inclusion and supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Have a good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Be willing to learn and engage in ongoing professional development

Benefits:

  • A warm, welcoming school community and supportive team
  • Training and development opportunities, including potential progression into teaching or therapeutic roles
  • The chance to make a tangible difference in young people's lives
  • A scenic and peaceful school environment with access to nature-based learning
  • A role where every day brings purpose, variety, and the chance to grow

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who values empathy, patience and resilience—and who is driven to help every learner succeed on their own terms.
