GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Poole. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners by providing both academic and emotional support.

About the Role

As an Education Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across a range of subjects and abilities. Your role will involve helping students stay engaged in their learning, providing one-on-one and small group support, and contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

About the school
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.

Responsibilities of an Education Support Assistant

  • Support Learning: Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Individual and Group Support: Provide targeted academic and emotional support to students, helping them stay focused and motivated.
  • Encourage Positive Behaviour: Promote a respectful and supportive classroom culture, modelling appropriate behaviour and social skills.
  • Foster Inclusion: Help create a learning environment where all students feel valued, safe, and included.
  • Track Progress: Monitor and record student progress, contributing to planning and review meetings.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

Requirements for Education Support Assistant

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping students reach their potential.
  • Ideally need a valid driving license and be willing to drive.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development are desirable.
