Job summary

Malvern College is seeking a Security Officer to protect pupils, staff and visitors across the campus and prep school. You will patrol, respond to emergencies, and maintain a secure environment, reporting to the Head of Estates and Compliance.

You will cover 3pm–1am shifts on a 4 on/4 off pattern, work with local police where needed, and support events and safeguarding with a professional and calm approach.

Qualifications

• Full, clean driving licence.
• Experience in a security-related role, preferably in an educational setting.
• Experience assessing security risk and advising on proportionate control measures.
• Familiarity with CCTV monitoring, access control and other security systems.
• Ability to handle emergencies calmly and de-escalate challenging situations with tact.
• Excellent communication skills and a high standard of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Secure all buildings at end of day, set alarms and check doors, windows and lights.
• Act as main contact for out-of-hours emergency calls.
• Respond to fire alarms and coordinate with staff and emergency services.
• Patrol campus and report to senior staff with nightly summaries.
• Monitor CCTV and handle footage requests with proper authorisation.
• Support pastoral activities out of hours and escort pupils as needed.
• Assist setup of school events and support third-party lettings.
• Report safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
