Job description

0.5 FTE Part Time (17.5 Hours per week)

RSB is seeking a part-time Education Policy officer to support the Science Education Policy Alliance (SEPA), a partnership that brings together the Association for Science Education, Institute of Physics, Royal Society, Royal Society of Biology, and Royal Society of Chemistry. RSB acts as the host organisation for SEPA and provides secretariat support for the group.

The officer will work closely with the Head of Education Policy, SEPA Chairs, and other leads to advance SEPA’s aims in three priority areas: investment in science education, influencing curriculum and assessment reform, and building on SEPA’s successes. The role includes providing administrative support for SEPA’s strategic and task groups, coordinating with organisations to reach consensus, engaging with stakeholders, drafting communications and publications, and supporting SEPA events.

This position focuses on supporting a partnership of five organisations working on science education policy, mainly in primary and secondary schools in England. It is suitable for candidates such as: a primary science lead or secondary science teacher seeking to transition out of the classroom; a science education professional returning after a career break; or someone with experience in education engagement, communications, or policy.
