Job description

Join Us and Help Shape Brighter Futures

At Depaul UK, we believe in people’s potential — and we take action every day to help unlock it. Whether you’re supporting young people directly or strengthening our organisation behind the scenes, your work will create real, lasting impact.

Turn Your Experience Into Prevention

We’re excited to share an opportunity to join our Prevention team as an Education Officer, helping young people across London build the knowledge, confidence and resilience needed to prevent homelessness.

Direct experience in prevention or education delivery is not essential. We're equally interested in people who bring the right values, transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

We’re Looking For Someone Who
  • Cares about helping young people thrive
  • Enjoys building positive relationships and engaging with different audiences
  • Has experience working in a role that supports young people or people facing disadvantage, or can demonstrate relevant transferable experience
  • Feels confident speaking with groups and facilitating discussions, or is motivated to develop these skills
  • Brings enthusiasm, creativity and initiative to their work
  • Is keen to learn, grow and try new approaches
  • Shares Depaul's belief in the potential of every young person

If you've been considering a move into prevention work, education delivery or partnership development, this could be a great opportunity to broaden your experience and develop new skills.

We’re interested in your potential...

You don't need to have done everything before. Whether your strengths come from sector experience, relationship building, youth work, or communicating with others, we'll help you develop the skills needed to succeed. We're looking for people who share our values, are eager to learn and are excited by the opportunity to help young people thrive.

We'll support you to succeed.

Please note that this advert will close on the 2nd of September 2026; however, we can close this advert early due to high volume. In addition, appointed applicant may be required (in the future) to do 5 days in the office – this is unlikely but also not something that can be excluded.

Key Deliverables
  • Effectively lead and coordinate the Depaul education programme in your region.
  • Deliver the programme’s workshops to children and young people aged 11-18 in a variety of education and youth settings, including facilitating assemblies, classroom-based workshops and small group work, as well as delivering sessions virtually if required.
  • Design and prepare engaging, innovative and high quality resources and workshops that are integrated with the national curriculum and differentiated to meet the needs of children and young people with complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider national team to periodically review and update the programme content, based on feedback and in line with developments in the sector.
  • Take responsibility for, with full support, building strong partnerships with educational institutions in your region, including marketing the programme, generating income and meeting identified targets.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including other agencies and statutory teams) to promote the programme and develop clear referral routes for young people into other services.
  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate recording of all activities and keeping the database up‑to‑date, overseeing the monitoring and evaluation procedures in your base region.
  • Keep up‑to‑date with current issues affecting young people in your region and ensure the programme is tailored to the specific needs and context of the area you are responsible for. This may include designing bespoke projects within the parameters of our programme and quality standards, if appropriate.
  • Be responsible, with full support, for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, including Depaul UK Clients, acting as a positive role model at all times.
  • Frequent independent travel across your region to attend meetings and deliver workshops. Occasional national travel to attend strategy meetings and events, with possible overnight stays.
  • Occasional out‑of‑hours working to meet the needs of the charity and our education partners, for which time off in lieu will be given in accordance with our policy.
  • Coordinate the programme and carry out your role in line with Depaul’s policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Lone Working and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Adopt our Endeavour approach to working with young people.
  • Any other tasks that fall within the scope and nature of this post.
What We Are Looking For From You - Person Specification

When completing your application form please address all the points set out below.

  • Excellent ability to work productively with children and young people: skilled at building rapport, managing behavior and addressing difficult topics in an appropriate manner.
  • Confident to deliver engaging presentations, workshops and training to large groups of children, young people and adults, both in‑person and virtually.
  • Experience of designing and developing high‑quality and innovative educational resources, lesson plans and workshops for children and young people in line with the national curriculum and other statutory guidance.
  • Strong relationship management skills, able to build constructive partnerships with a range of professionals, influence senior figures and effectively explain the impact of our work.
  • Working knowledge of target‑driven environments, marketing and generating income; remaining motivated and using innovative approaches to solve problems and sell our work, ensuring we reach as many young people as possible.
  • Demonstrable interest in the issues and challenges that face children and young people growing up in the UK. A knowledge of themes including homelessness, healthy relationships and risk‑taking is desirable.
  • Be self‑motivated with a positive and enthusiastic personality, able to work autonomously and carry out efficient organisation and administration.
  • Be highly computer literate, with knowledge of creating digital media.
What You’ll Receive
  • Tailored training and development
  • Flexible working options where suitable
  • 26 days annual leave, rising with service
  • Family‑friendly leave policies

  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP access
  • Discounts across retail, travel, food, fitness and more
  • Cash health plan for you and your family
  • Death‑in‑service benefit
  • Access to legal and practical support
