Job Summary

At NELFT, we are the largest provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in England, supporting over 150 schools across Southend, Essex and Thurrock. We provide evidence‑based individual and group interventions to children and young people aged 4–18, and are committed to whole‑school approaches that foster lasting, positive mental health outcomes.

Main duties of the job

• Work in close partnership with schools to help children and young people aged 4–18 manage mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
• Provide 1:1 therapeutic sessions, group interventions and whole‑school mental health initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver evidence‑based interventions across primary, secondary and higher education settings.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, including risk assessments, care plans and reviews.
• Use Routine Outcome Measures (ROMs) and clinical tools to guide and improve practice.
• Collaborate with schools to map and plan service delivery tailored to their needs.
• Work alongside fellow EMHPs/CWPs and senior mental health practitioners for professional development.

What We're Looking For

Qualified EMHP or CWP who can work independently within the scope of practice and has experience supporting children and young people in educational settings. Compassion, clinical skill and a collaborative spirit are essential.

Qualifications: Completion of the Education Mental Health Practitioner or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner PGDip is required. Experience delivering CBT‑informed therapeutic interventions to children, young people or families, including trainees, is essential.

BABCP or BPS Wellbeing Practitioner registration is desirable. Applicants must have applied for Wellbeing Practitioner registration with either organisation.

Vehicle access required to travel across Colchester, Clacton and Harwich.
