This is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract.

The post is expected to commence in November 2025.

The Sociology Department has an exciting opportunity for a highly dedicated individual to drive and implement the planning and delivery of all teaching operational administration and student experience related activities for taught programmes within the Department.Thisincludesthe administrative management and oversight ofall aspectsofthe teaching programmes administration and the annual tasks that underpin them.The postholder will be required to take act as the senior Professional Services (PS) contact for the effective and efficient service delivery of the Sociology Department’s taught programmes and to support students and academic staff in this area. You will promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while ensuring that School policies and procedures are adhered to. The post holder will manage the PS taught programmes team.

You should be educated to degree level or have significant relevant work experience. Experience of managing undergraduate or taught postgraduate programmes is essential, along with the ability to contribute to and motivate team members.

You will be expected to prioritise, plan and organise multiple tasks with competing priorities and allocate resources appropriately, often under pressure and using own initiate with limited supervision. You must also have the ability to manage long and short-term projects, alongside day-to-day workload.

The role requires a high level of accuracy and flexibility, experience of anticipating problems and identifying potential solutions, and the ability to manage your own workload as well as those you are managing.You should possess excellent IT and written communications skills, the ability to deal with people at all levels and working knowledge of social media tools and web editing.
