Job Description:

Service Care Legal is currently recruiting for an Education Lawyer to join a local authority in the Kingston upon Hull area. This role focuses on education law, particularly on school closures and amalgamations. The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal advice and representation on these sensitive matters.

Please note that office attendance is required approximately once every two weeks.

The Role

• Provide expert legal advice on education law, especially school closures, reorganisations, and amalgamations
• Draft and review legal documents related to school restructuring
• Advise on legislative changes and relevant case law
• Represent the council in legal proceedings and inquiries related to education
• Collaborate with internal departments and senior officers
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders including schools and legal bodies

Role Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX
• Extensive experience in education law, especially school closures and restructuring
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and local government frameworks
• Ability to manage complex cases with minimal supervision

Experience in a local authority or public sector is highly desirable. Some experience in employment law is beneficial but not primary.
