Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an ambitious School HR Officer for an outstanding secondary school in Barking. You will lead end-to-end recruitment, uphold safer recruitment practices, and provide HR guidance to managers and staff in a supportive education environment.

With knowledge of UK employment law and a proactive, confidential approach, you will maintain SCR records, manage DBS checks, and implement efficient HR administration to boost staff wellbeing and retention.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a human resources role, ideally within education/public sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and safer recruitment practices.
• Exceptional organisational skills and data accuracy.
• Excellent communication and discretion in handling HR matters.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to progression in educational HR.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end recruitment, including drafting roles, advertising, interviews, and onboarding.
• Ensure DBS checks and SCR maintenance comply with Safer Recruitment guidelines.
• Provide day-to-day HR advice to managers on absence, performance, contracts and policies.
• Maintain confidential personnel records and HR databases in line with data regulations.
• Develop and implement efficient admin systems to streamline HR processes and staff wellbeing.
