Job Description:

HAYS is delighted to be working with a number of Local Authority clients to recruit for multiple Educational Health Care Plan Officers on an interim basis to join their expanding teams. Our clients are committed to providing exceptional support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They collaborate with schools, colleges, health services, and other agencies to ensure timely and effective support. The successful candidates will plan, coordinate, facilitate, and support the delivery of statutory SEND functions in line with the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015. You will lead and coordinate Education Health and Care assessments, reviews, and planning processes for children and young people aged 0-25.

These roles are paying between £200-£300 per day and are remote positions. The working hours for this role will be 37 hours per week, but some unsociable hours may also be required.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Manage a caseload across all areas of statutory SEN and complete associated tasks.
  • Act as a named keyworker for parents, young people, and professionals.
  • Use person-centred approaches to engage with parents, carers, children, and young people.
  • Draft high-quality Education Health and Care (EHC) plans adhering to statutory requirements.
  • Conduct meetings with families and other agencies as required.
  • Coordinate and present cases to relevant panels.
  • Maintain and update casework files, both electronic and paper-based.
  • Attend annual review meetings as a Local Authority representative.
  • Provide verbal advice on pupils' entitlement to travel assistance.
  • Support in the preparation of SEN Tribunal appeals.
  • Ensure all written correspondence and documents are accurate and well-structured.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in SEND or related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, working with children and young people with SEND.
  • Specific training in SEND legislation and practices.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, Children & Families Act 2014, and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours and travel as required.
