About the role

Are you passionate about sustainability and the power of education to spark real change? As NLWA's Education and Engagement Manager, you'll lead our flagship schools outreach programme, helping students across north London explore and embrace circular economy principles.

You'll be the driving force behind engaging, curriculum-linked activities that bring environmental issues to life - from interactive classroom sessions to exciting events and digital resources on our Education Hub. You'll build strong relationships with schools, tailor content for different age groups, and ensure the programme continues to grow and evolve.

The role is both strategic and hands-on, as you'll help us expand our already successful primary schools programme into secondary schools, working with Key Stages 3 and 4 while collaborating with borough officers, contractors, and internal teams to make In the Know inclusive, impactful, and locally relevant.

About You

You're an experienced project manager with a strong background in sustainability and education. You know how schools work, and you're confident engaging with students, teachers, and senior leaders alike.

You're a natural communicator who can adapt your message to suit any audience. You're organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities. You've designed and delivered impactful programmes, and you know how to evaluate success - even when it involves large datasets in Excel.

Whether you've managed before or are ready to take that next step, you're confident in managing staff and contractors. You understand safeguarding and risk assessment in school settings, and you're happy to travel across north London, occasionally starting early or finishing late to make things happen.

A clean UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will need to pass a DBS check.

What we Offer

At North London Waste Authority, you will receive a host of benefits offered as part of the Camden contract including:

  • 27 days annual leave for new starters, rising to 31 days after 5 years
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Flexible working opportunities.
  • Interest free loans
  • Career development and training
  • Wellbeing support and activities
