The primary objective of the Deputy Education Manager is to assist with the overall management responsibilities of the education department. Other tasks include developing and implementing engaging educational products and services suitable for a wide range of service users.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

· Co-ordinating the Education team on a daily basis, identifying and pro-actively managing the assignment and completing of departmental workload, appropriate staffing levels and supporting positive communication to encourage new ideas that will enhance educational products and services.

· Assisting with the creation and management of staffing schedules against departmental workload.

· Assisting with the development of educational products and services, utilising knowledge and insight of the education industry to design and implement engaging activities.

· Ensuring the Education team are appropriately trained and developed in line with all educational products and services.

· Conducting observation and evaluation of onsite educational product and service delivery with the Education Manager, ensuring continuous improvements are pro-actively made to maintain high standards throughout the Education team.

· Develop and deliver additional products and events to promote current and upcoming educational products and services, including career days, teacher events, open days and enrolment taster sessions.

· Oversee the support of the Research & Conservation Officer with promoting conservation within the organisation through keeper weeks, evening talks and onsite events available to both employees and guests.

Education / Qualifications:

· Minimum degree level qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management, Zoology, Conservation or related subject is essential

· Teaching, presenter or educator experience is essential, alongside a formal teaching qualification

· Supervisor and/or managerial experience is essential

West Midlands Safari Park is an award-winning visitor attraction, located in Worcestershire in the heart of England. It is home to some of the world’s most beautiful and critically endangered species, with a four-mile safari drive-through, walk-through Discovery Trail, African Village and Lemur Woods, as well beautiful walking trails, allowing guests to experience up close encounters with hundreds of exotic animals. In 2021, the Park introduced Safari Lodges – luxury accommodation allowing guests to stay overnight for the first time. Guests can wake up to incredible sights of elephants, giraffe, rhino and red panda, or sleep just a ‘whisker’ away from lions, tigers and cheetahs.

In addition, the park is home to three incredible venues – Spring Grove House, Treetops Pavillion and Cellarz, which play host to weddings, corporate events and social celebrations.
