Description
About the Team

The Education Concerns Team plays a critical role in protecting the quality and integrity of nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education across the UK. Working as part of the wider Education function, the team investigates concerns, risks and issues that may impact the quality of educational provision, student experience or public protection.

The team works closely with approved education institutions (AEIs), internal stakeholders and regulatory colleagues to assess risk, gather intelligence and ensure concerns are managed fairly, proportionately and effectively. While the Education Quality Assurance team focuses on helping providers get things right from the outset, the Education Concerns Team focuses on situations where risks, concerns or emerging issues require investigation and regulatory oversight.

As the team continues to evolve and strengthen its approach to education oversight, this is an exciting opportunity to join a developing function that plays a direct role in supporting public protection and maintaining confidence in nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education.

Your Role and Impact

As an Education Concerns Officer, you'll investigate concerns relating to nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education programmes, helping to ensure that risks to students, educational quality and public protection are identified, assessed and managed appropriately.

You'll gather and evaluate evidence, assess risk, engage with education providers and ork collaboratively with colleagues to determine appropriate actions and recommendations. This role requires curiosity, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex information and challenging situations with professionalism and confidence.

You will engage with universities, senior stakeholders and education partners, often discussing sensitive matters and supporting constructive resolutions. You'll also contribute to a growing and evolving service, helping to strengthen how concerns are assessed, investigated and managed across the UK education landscape.

In this role, you will:

  • Investigate concerns relating to approved education provides and education programmes.
  • Assess risks, analyse information and evaluate evidence from multiple sources.
  • Work with approved education institutions to gather information and seek assurance where concerns have been raised.
  • Conduct risk assessments and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Manage casework and maintain accurate records, documentation and audit trails.
  • Prepare reports, summaries and recommendations for governance and decision-making purposes.
  • Build effective relationships with universities, education providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate discussions and meetings with stakeholders, including senior representatives from education institutions.
  • Identify emerging themes, risks and trends that may require further regulatory consideration.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development of processes, guidance and ways of working.

This is a role where your work will directly contribute to maintaining high standards in healthcare education and protecting future patients through effective regulatory oversight.
