In this role, you will take full ownership of the design integration, development, validation, and introduction of components such as lubrication pipes, hoses, and breathers within the Electric Drive Unit (EDU) Cooling & Lubrication sub-system.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity and delivery of these components across our in-house EDU programmes. This includes managing the component commodity plan to meet quality, cost, and timing targets, while working closely with JLR’s suppliers, manufacturing teams, and cross-functional engineering squads.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the forefront of electric vehicle technology, contributing to the development of world-class systems that power some of the most iconic vehicles on the road.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As part of the team, you’ll be involved in a number of core activities that contribute to the success of the department, such as –

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of EDU cooling and lubrication components such as pipes, hoses, and breathers
  • Own the technical content, including DFMEAs, design rules, and validation plans, ensuring robust engineering standards are met
  • Collaborate with CAD, CAE, manufacturing, and attribute teams to ensure components meet functional, cost, weight, and quality targets
  • Plan and coordinate physical testing and validation activities, ensuring compliance with programme requirements and sign-off processes
  • Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, technical reviews, and delivery of components to programme gateways
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve engineering issues during development, launch, and production phases
  • Support documentation, compliance tracking, and formal release processes across the component lifecycle
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through benchmarking, technology road mapping, and application of quality tools such as 8D and Six Sigma

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for someone with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and practical skills, including –

  • A strong technical understanding of mechanical component design and system integration
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in reporting, presenting, and managing supplier relationships
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Knowledge of cooling and lubrication systems within Electric Drive Units (EDUs) is highly desirable
  • Experience in engineering mechanical components such as breather spigots, hoses, and plastic parts
  • Familiarity with product development processes, including change management and delivery to programme milestones
  • Working knowledge of 3DX CATIA and experience supporting supplier and internal reviews through clear technical documentation
