Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Publishing Administrative Editor in Oxford to coordinate peer review, manage editorial workflows and uphold quality and ethical standards with editors, reviewers and authors.

You will play a key role in ensuring timely publication of leading journals, generating reports, and improving workflows while collaborating with internal teams in a hybrid office/remote setup.

Qualifications

  • Excellent administration skills with a real eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and build relationships.
  • Ability to take ownership of problems and implement solutions.
  • Enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver successful projects and initiatives.
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to create and generate reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems.
  • Excellent organisation, multi-tasking, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Motivated self-starter with a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering editorial administration services to editors, authors and reviewers to ensure journal needs and service levels are met.
  • Managing the editorial, submission and review process to reduce lead-time from submission to decision.
  • Generating journal and ad-hoc reports for editors and publishers for board meetings and strategic planning.
  • Identifying and implementing workflow/configuration changes to optimise journal performance and publishing policies.
  • Providing support and troubleshooting advice for the submission system to editors, reviewers, authors and teams.
  • Communicating with the journal community, publishers and cross-functional teams on submission/publication queries.
  • Providing cover for other journals in the team during absence.
