Job description

Job Title: Editorial Assistant

Salary: £25,200 - £31,800

Location: Cambridge – Hybrid (2-3x a week in the office)

Contract: Permanent, Full time (35 hours per week)

We are looking for a motivated Editorial Assistant to provide support for a Publisher and Commissioning Editor who are responsible for building the medical books publishing portfolio.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

About The Role

The role is varied and includes administrative, editorial, and list management responsibilities as well as working closely with a range of people across Editorial, Content Management, Sales and Marketing, and doctors and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with authors, editors, and contributors
  • Manage manuscript delivery, project timelines, and author queries
  • Oversee contracts, payments, and permissions
  • Handle copywriting and cover image research
  • Represent the Publisher/Editor at occasional conferences

About You

  • Strong communication, admin, and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Proactive, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Interest in medical or scientific subjects (preferred)
  • Experience in office settings and cross-functional communication
