Based in the NEU Hamilton House, London Office

Full-time post, three-month Fixed Term Contract

Commencing salary £70,313 per annum

The National Education Union (NEU) is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 480,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.

The NEU is the largest education union in Europe and the fourth largest union in the Trades Union Congress (TUC). We are an effective and powerful voice – championing everyone who works in education.

The successful candidate will edit the union’s flagship magazine, Educate, and optimise the professional activities of the publications team as part of an integrated communications department to recruit, retain and mobilise members, engage and influence stakeholders, and celebrate the union’s success.

They will provide in-depth professional and technical knowledge and expertise to devise, deliver and evaluate a publishing plan.

The role will include overseeing and undertaking the researching, commissioning, writing and editing of high-quality content as well as devising and delivering a timely, cost-effective, balanced schedule of magazines, newsletters, ebulletins, advice, support and campaigns publications.

We are looking for applicants who understand and support the labour movement and the campaigning activities of trade unions in education.

We offer good conditions including a commencing salary of £70,313 pa, 35 days annual leave plus 4 days paid additional holiday entitlement as the NEU office closure days at Christmas and a generous, defined benefit pension scheme. Salary, annual leave and office closure days will be calculated pro-rata, for part-time applicants.

The cover is offered on a three-month cover arrangement.
