The Payments Association is seeking a highly motivated and creative Editor to take ownership of two of its publications – Payments Intelligence and Payments Review.

The Editor will play a key role in developing and managing the association’s content, including articles, interviews, podcasts, and videos, for the two publications. Working closely with the Editorial Director, the Editor will work to elevate Payments Intelligence and Payments Review to ensure they offer the best content for members and establish The Payments Association as the voice of the industry.

We are a small, dedicated, passionate, and fun team who work collectively and strive to be the best in everything we do. This is a great opportunity for a results-driven individual with lots of drive and enthusiasm looking for a position where their ideas count, and they can really make a difference.

About the company

The Payments Association is for payments firms, big and small. We are home to the most influential community in payments, where the connections, collaboration, and learning shape an industry that works for all. We help our 200+ members navigate a complex regulatory environment and facilitate profitable business partnerships.

We deliver a world-leading series of events, active research and policy agenda to bring about meaningful change and innovation, and a powerful digital media portfolio. Through our comprehensive programme of activities for members and with guidance from an independent Advisory Board of leading payments CEOs, we produce a programme of monthly digital and face-to-face events including our annual conference PAY360 and awards dinner, webinars, CEO round tables, podcasts, and training activities. The Payments Association connects market-makers—informing, influencing, and celebrating change and development throughout the booming UK market for Payments.

About the Editor role

We are seeking an Editor to join our creative, motivated, and passionate team in this fast-growing business in the fintech and payments industry, based at London Bridge, London.

The Editor will manage two publications and related content, as well as be involved in creating multimedia content and supporting the wider business to deliver value to members.

Publications:

  • Payments Intelligence: delivers short, sharp, actionable insights and business intelligence exclusively for The Payments Association’s members. The monthly content helps members to effectively navigate the market, identify trends, and make effective business decisions.
  • Payments Review: is a leading source of analysis and insight on Payments and Industry trends. The quarterly digital magazine, available for members and subscribers, brings together various perspectives to deliver a 360-degree view on key issues.

Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Editor will be responsible for ensuring the content in Payments Intelligence and Payments Review meets the respective briefs and is published on time and to high standards.

The successful candidate will help establish The Payments Association as the primary source for industry insight.

The role involves in-market research, tracking industry developments, and using this understanding to produce high-quality content, both through commissioning and creating independent, insightful, and analytical pieces. The role also supports other departments to ensure content aligns with the association’s style guide.

Key responsibilities

  1. Manage Payments Intelligence and Payments Review to deliver top-quality content for members and the audience.
  2. Coordinate publishing cycles and establish these publications as must-reads.
  3. Oversee layout, artwork, design, photography, and content accuracy.

  5. Proofread, edit, and enhance stories or pieces.
  6. Manage members’ contributions and ensure quality control.
  7. Collaborate with marketing, projects, policy, and events teams.
  8. Meet deadlines and budget requirements.
  9. Develop strategies and themes for each issue, using content to engage the audience and identify growth opportunities.
  10. Create thought leadership content through articles, podcasts, videos, and events.
  11. Ensure compliance with media law and ethical guidelines.
