Job Opportunity: Editor for IoT Insider

Are you passionate about publishing and journalism, with a keen interest in the world of IoT? Electronic Specifier is looking for an Editor to lead content for IoT Insider, our dedicated platform covering the Internet of Things. This role is ideal for someone with publishing experience who’s eager to contribute across a network of websites and digital titles. You’ll work closely with our marketing and sales teams to create engaging, commercially-minded content and help grow opportunities for revenue. The ideal candidate will also be confident in front of the camera, representing the brand at industry events, hosting panel discussions, and traveling regularly to stay connected with the latest trends and innovations.

Headquartered in Cranbrook, Kent, Electronic Specifier has been a trusted name in the electronics industry for over 20 years. Our content supports engineers around the globe and is delivered across multiple platforms to suit a wide range of preferences. You'll be joining a collaborative editorial team, working alongside a Managing Editor as well as dedicated marketing, sales, and operations teams. We’re a social bunch, with regular company events.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, write, and edit editorial content for our websites and magazines – from short features to in-depth investigative pieces.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Editor to improve SEO performance using tools such as SE Ranking, Google Search Console, and Yoast.
  • Support the editorial team with daily press release uploads and schedule basic content across social media platforms.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop engaging content tailored to our readership.
  • Proofread and sub-edit editorial and marketing materials to ensure accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Represent the publication at client meetings, trade shows, and networking events – including occasional international travel.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews, host panel sessions at events, record podcasts, and present webinars.
  • Contribute to SEO-driven content creation, including support with video production.
  • Identify and relay potential commercial leads to the sales team, using Hubspot to log your contacts and conversations.

Requirements:

  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

This is a full-time, permanent office-based role with the option to work from home one day a week after the initial four weeks. Flexible working hours between 8am and 6pm are also available.

23 days holiday, plus an additional day of holiday over Christmas and your birthday (25), and public holidays.

After two years, you'll gain an extra day of leave each year, up to a maximum of 30 days.
