The role

As an Edit Technician at ITV, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, client-focused support and services to productions using ITV Technology’s facilities.

Your duties include providing media management, supporting editing processes, and utilizing current broadcast equipment along with emerging IT technologies to support the wider post-production department with a focus on operational efficiency and business targets.

You will assist senior team members, develop less experienced colleagues, and perform tasks such as:

  1. Providing high service levels, prioritizing workload across multiple projects in accordance with departmental and health & safety guidelines.
  2. Ensuring operational efficiencies are maintained.
  3. Operating all relevant media hub equipment and advising clients on achieving production requirements.
  4. Manipulating digital media to deliver high-quality technical and creative solutions.
  5. Editing program material as required.
  6. Supporting editors in their duties.
  7. Working with management to ensure operational protocols are effective and documented.
  8. Completing technical previews to standards specified by broadcasters such as ITV, BBC, Sky, Discovery, etc.
  9. Supporting transmission services and managing media and project files, including archiving and restoring.
  10. Creating and distributing file-based media, including transcoding, uploading, and streaming.
  11. Maintaining post-production housekeeping, server media management, backups, and reporting utilization.
  12. Providing first-line technical support for software and hardware across post-production teams.
  13. Ensuring suites and operational areas are fit for purpose, reporting faults promptly.
  14. Advising clients on production processes and coordinating assets between departments and external suppliers.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Strong knowledge of post-production workflows, Avid Media Composer, broadcast standards, file formats, and production processes.
  • Proficiency with broadcast IT and equipment, NLEs, DAWs, GFX software, transcoders, standards converters, etc.
  • Ability to discern video and audio quality to broadcast standards.
