Bingley based manufacturing company specialising in production of retail display units require a full time manufacturing operative to work within the ABS edge banding dept.
The edge banding machine operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining edge banding machines, primarily to apply ABS edge banding to wood panels / MFC. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation.
Setting up and operating edge banding machines according to specifications and production requirements. This includes adjusting machine settings like temperature, speed, and pressure, and ensuring proper glue application and adhesion.
Material Handling.
Feeding wood panels or other materials into the machine and monitoring the process to ensure consistent and accurate edge banding.
Quality Control.
Inspecting finished products for defects, ensuring that they meet quality standards, and making necessary adjustments to the machine or process to maintain quality.
Maintenance.
Performing routine maintenance on the edge banding machine, including cleaning, blade replacement, and glue replenishment.
Safety Compliance.
Following all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate:
- Working with the production team to meet output goals, resolve any production issues, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Knowledge of ABS edge banding materials, including its properties, application, and benefits.
- Experience with operating and maintaining edge banding machines, including knowledge of machine settings, glue application, and material handling.
- Ability to inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues related to machine operation, material quality, or production output.
- Understanding and adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle material.
