Art and Design Lecturer - Games Art/Design/Animation

Due to growth at MidKent College Medway Campus and Medway School of Arts in The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, we are recruiting several Art and Design lecturers to teach courses from L1 to L5, including Foundation Degree / HND Programmes. We seek diverse skills to cover fine art, fashion design, graphics, and digital media.

We are particularly interested in candidates from a Games Art/Design/Animation background who can design, deliver, and assess high-quality creative study programmes aligned with UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication, focusing on Games Art. Skills in industry-standard digital software such as Maya, Unreal Engine, Photoshop, Substance Painter, Premiere, and After Effects are essential. Candidates should inspire students through outstanding teaching strategies that challenge and motivate.

Applicants should have industry experience or a relevant degree and demonstrate passion for teaching. An understanding of developing students’ English, Maths, and employability skills is vital. The ability to set targets and monitor student progress to ensure successful outcomes is also required.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

The following outlines the key responsibilities as directed by senior management. This list is not exhaustive:

  1. Teaching and Curriculum Development: Deliver high-quality teaching, prepare materials, develop curricula, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain statutory responsibilities such as safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
  2. Course Management: Handle communication, problem-solving, timetable management, cover arrangements, work experience coordination, and liaising with departments to ensure compliance and consistency.
  3. Recruitment and Enrollment: Assist with candidate selection, manage enrolments, and organize induction programmes.
  4. Student Support: Conduct regular meetings, set SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, and support students’ academic and personal development.
  5. Monitoring and Reporting: Track attendance, results, and course performance, and develop action plans as necessary.
  6. English and Maths Promotion: Support literacy and numeracy development within the college.
  7. Meetings and Collaboration: Attend various meetings, coordinate parent evenings, and work with colleagues on course development and CPD activities.
  8. Department Administration: Manage registers, update records, produce reports, and publish materials on the VLE.
  9. Quality Assurance: Participate in course reviews, verification, moderation, and self-assessment activities.

For SPS points 5–8, additional duties include internal verification, moderation, resource coordination, and liaising with higher education institutions.
