ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL – REGULATORY LAW

LONDON (HYBRID WORKING – 1-2 DAYS PER WEEK IN THE OFFICE)

PERMANENT ROLE

Role Overview:

Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a world leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their In House Legal Team. Our client is seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer who will deliver practical and business-focused legal advice to our business and corporate services partners. This role has significant regulatory law responsibilities but also requires someone who can manage further more general legal work in fields such as commercial contracts, corporate governance, technology, privacy and data security.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide legal support on a wide range of regulatory matters for a global professional services organisation.
  • Advise on day-to-day matters including contracts, corporate governance, technology, privacy and data security, regulatory compliance and other commercial, regulatory and related issues which arise.
  • Help manage the organisation's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions and applicable network policies
  • Support Risk Management and Finance by providing legal support for their activities
  • Help manage the legal needs of our client’s global delivery centre subsidiaries
  • Help develop and implement governance and operational policies, procedures and playbooks
  • Review and advise on new services and solutions including the company governance process and specialized legal and regulatory issues.
  • Manage external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions and ensure work is done on a cost-effective and efficient basis.
  • Balance the need to deliver practical and business-focused advice while managing risk appetite and compliance obligations.
  • Support HR on complex employment law issues
  • Make presentations and write articles on important legal topics.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team.

About You:

  • Experienced UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent if qualified outside of the UK) with significant time spent at a major law firm (other relevant in-house experience is desirable as an add-on).
  • Expert level legal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead complex legal and regulatory matters.
  • An advanced risk management and strategic mindset with the ability to quickly spot issues and recommend mitigation options that enable the business to meet our objectives without taking on unacceptable risks.
  • Expertise in advising on laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions and negotiating, drafting and reviewing transaction and commercial agreements.
  • Able to work independently and manage complex files while also collaborating with business teams
  • Balances the needs and demands of a fast growing global business with legal and compliance risk management.
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment working with many different global stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
