School Crossing Patrol Officer - Lawford Mead Primary

Permanent, Part Time

£13.00 per hour

Location: Chelmsford

Working Style: Community-based worker

Join Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team

Support your local community by ensuring the safety of children crossing at Lawford Mead County Infant & Junior Schools, Trent Road, Chelmsford. This role involves assisting with crossings twice daily, in the morning and afternoon.

We seek a punctual, reliable, approachable individual who enjoys engaging with the public. The position is approximately 7.5 hours per week, during the school term (39 weeks), with shifts of 45 minutes between 08:00-09:00 and 14:45-15:45, depending on site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.

Responsibilities
  1. Prioritize the needs of pedestrians, including those with disabilities.
  2. Maintain contact with schools for safety updates.
  3. Assess and report risks and incidents at the crossing site.
  4. Ensure proper maintenance of uniform and equipment.
  5. Signal clearly to drivers to ensure pedestrian safety.
