Our
Sustainability Writer will be responsible for the creation, formatting, and development of content that supports the learning, development, and certification of all Planet Mark Members, no matter what stage they are at in their net zero journey. Key responsibilities include reviewing content and producing guidance documents, toolkits, case studies, product explainers, and communications resources in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts. The Sustainability Writer also plays an essential role in the Planet Mark Net Zero Certification Programme by ensuring that relevant certification content is high-quality, on-brand, and technically accurate.
What that means day to day- Technical Content Creation: Write, format, and update detailed technical content such as standards guidance, toolkits, explainer documents, and FAQs.
- Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts: Work closely with internal and external SMEs (e.g., Measurement, Strategy, Engagement, Design, Policy) to source, validate, and refine content.
- Content Accuracy & Governance: Ensure all content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with the latest standards, certification criteria, and technical guidelines.
- Content Review: Work closely with Sustainability Strategy Consultants to provide communications support to Strategy Certification deliverables.
- Communications support: Respond to internal and external proofreading requests to ensure technical accuracy.
- Content Governance: Participate in regular content audits to maintain the quality and relevance of technical documents.
- Support for Learning & Certification: Assist in the creation of learning-support materials, such as workbook-style guides, reference sheets, and case studies for use in Planet Mark's Academy.
What you'll need to be successful- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
- Experience in a sustainability or technical content marketing role.
- Excellent time and project management to keep many moving parts operational while being flexible to accommodate the demands of a fast paced business environment and industry.
- Engaged with the current trends, policies, and topical issues of the current sustainability landscape.
- Be driven by a sense of purpose, optimism and keen to use your professional skills in your communications to help us make a difference in combating the climate crisis.
- Ability to be creative, adaptable and flexible and pick up ad hoc tasks when required.
