Job description

The provided job description is quite comprehensive and well-structured, but it contains some redundancies and formatting issues that can be improved for better clarity and engagement. The repetition of the 'What can you expect from CAF?' and 'What will be your role in the company?' sections should be consolidated to avoid duplication. Additionally, minor grammatical and typographical corrections are needed, such as adding spaces where words are concatenated (e.g., 'paycompetitively' should be 'pay competitively'). The use of HTML tags is appropriate, but the overall flow can be made more concise and reader-friendly. Here is the refined version:

What can you expect from CAF?

  • Positive Work Environment: You will work in a positive environment, based on mutual respect and team spirit.
  • Professional Development: Our projects are often measured in years, sometimes decades, giving you and the organisation a future.
  • Learning and Autonomy: We will encourage you to work autonomously, being able to propose and decide 'what' and 'how'.
  • Security and Reliability: CAF has been working for over 100 years on a path that stretches into the future, giving you the security you need.
  • Cutting-edge technology: You will work with the latest technologies, facing the challenge of devising innovative approaches and solutions every day.

What will be your role in the company?

As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of all activities relating to the provision of clearly defined contractual overhaul services and business objectives. You will work with a Materials Manager and lead a team of Engineers, with the primary focus of meeting contractual obligations along with additional opportunities for business development. The role may occasionally involve some UK and European travel to engage with other CAF projects or suppliers.

Your daily duties will include:

  • Delivering contract management services in accordance with policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Monitoring overhaul expenditure against contract and ensuring actual spend profiles are within the contract budget.
  • Ensuring overhaul programme compliance by producing plans in the required format/hierarchy/structure with relevant information.
  • Conducting regular overhaul review meetings internally and with clients, facilitating internal interfaces on material availability, warranty, and stores.
  • Preparing reports on budgetary variations and managing communication with suppliers.
  • Setting up, monitoring, and managing procedures and processes to deliver services for the client.
  • Managing contract disputes and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Providing support for all overhaul activities and additional services.
  • Regularly auditing overhaul activities.
  • Governing key project and business processes, including HSQE, Training and Competence, Risk Management, Financial Reporting, and Materials Management.
  • Attending cross-project functional meetings.
  • Governing the employee appraisal process for Maintenance Engineers.
  • Ensuring all direct reports receive adequate induction, training plans, and ongoing development.

What salary will you be paid for this role?

As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role, you will be offered a salary in the region of £72,000 per annum.

What will make you successful in this position?

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • HNC/D or above in Engineering or Project Management related disciplines.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within the Rail industry.
  • A track record of managing complex medium and large-scale projects.
  • Ability to undertake technical and safety investigations.
  • Ability to produce detailed, high-quality reports for stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of commercial and financial procedures.
  • Proven experience in project or operational management roles.
  • Experience in commercial contract management.
