Job description

The Mission Concepts & Capabilitis (MCC) division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Marine Engineer responsible for all operations and maintenance of engineering equipment on vessels or other craft used for vessel operations. The Chief works with the Vessel Team to ensure equipment is safely integrated without damaging the vessel or its subsystems.

Upon successful onboarding, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  1. All preventive and corrective maintenance
  2. Planning, executing, and documenting all periodic maintenance requirements, including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual tasks
  3. Maintaining, ordering, and installing repair parts
  4. Maintaining appropriate levels of onboard spares
  5. Serving as On Scene Leader for emergencies aboard the vessel, such as fire, man overboard, or other casualties
  6. Leading launch and recovery of assets from the vessel and during docking and undocking evolutions
  7. Maintaining all damage control and firefighting equipment
  8. Maintaining all shipboard auxiliary systems, including ground tackle, deck equipment, and boat launch/recovery systems
  9. Maintaining Stiletto electrical generators and distribution systems

Required Qualifications :

  1. Years of experience in Navy maritime research and development programs
  2. Previous experience in Marine Engineering
  3. Significant experience with high-speed diesel-powered platforms
  4. Strong deck plate electrical background and proven performance on marine platforms
  5. Experience in maintaining and repairing carbon fiber hulls
  6. Experience working in a fabrication or repair facility, including integrating new systems
  7. Recent installation experience of newer maritime technologies relevant to military missions, such as Radar, Electro-Optics, Infrared Sensors, Communications, Electrical Power, Structural Materials, and Propulsion Systems
  8. Recent experience with launch and recovery of unmanned systems and their operations from maritime platforms, including air, surface, and underwater systems
  9. Secret Security Clearance required
