Job description

Our client, an established and reputable contractor within the rail infrastructure sector, is currently seeking a Rail Site/Sub Agent to join their team for various projects across Scotland. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and coordinate site operations across major rail infrastructure projects.
  2. Manage and deliver work packages involving piling, heavy and ancillary civils.
  3. Ensure quality, safety, and environmental standards are adhered to.
  4. Support self-delivery operations, including direct management of plant, labour, and materials.
  5. Interpret and deliver work from drawings and design documents.
  6. Assist with temporary works coordination, including development and implementation.
  7. Set out works using GPS and total stations.
  8. Engage in procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services.
  9. Ensure timely reporting and document control, supporting project reporting requirements.
  10. Liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  11. Support project planning and delivery using Microsoft Project.
  12. Maintain commercial awareness and support the site team in contractual matters.
  13. Drive project progress and innovation through active design development involvement.
Job Requirements:
  1. Qualifications: HNC or above in Civil Engineering (essential); Valid PTS/Sentinel Card, CSCS, and SMSTS; Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  2. Experience: Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Site/Sub Agent in rail infrastructure; Proven track record in rail civils including piling, heavy civils, and ancillary works; Self-delivery experience managing direct labour and plant; Familiarity with temporary works coordination and development; Knowledge of quality assurance processes; Experience in material and plant procurement; Strong understanding of contractual and commercial elements
  3. Technical Skills: Setting out and surveying using GPS and total station; Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams); Experience using CAD software and Microsoft Project
