The Role

We are looking for a Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of smart, scalable data solutions that enhance how we understand and engage with our supporters.

This role involves shaping data flow across our ecosystem, primarily using Azure and Databricks, integrated with platforms like Tableau, Cortex, and MS Dynamics. You will leverage GraphQL for real-time data access, ensuring data is well-structured, secure, and accessible for actionable insights.

This is a leadership position at the intersection of business needs and technical delivery. You will serve as a key link between stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams, translating complex requirements into clear, valuable solutions.

You will also lead a growing internal team and manage external partners, establishing best practices, fostering collaboration, and driving transformative change to build a scalable, modern data function.

Your day-to-day

• Manage data architecture strategy and design- Oversee the implementation of scalable data solutions within our Azure environment, including Databricks and GraphQL for real-time data access.
• Collaborate across teams- Act as the main liaison between business, product owners, and technical teams to ensure cohesive, value-driven solutions.
• Lead and inspire a team- Manage a team of 6, align their efforts with club priorities, and oversee external agency relationships.
• Data modelling- Design and maintain data models and schemas aligned with business needs and performance goals.
• Data integrations- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow and standardization using GraphQL.
• Ensure compliance- Establish data governance policies to maintain data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize performance and costs- Identify opportunities to improve data processes and manage resources efficiently within budget.
• Maintain platforms- Oversee maintenance, testing, deployment, and upgrades of data platforms and integrations.

What we are looking for

• Experience in data architectures- Extensive experience with enterprise data architectures, preferably in Azure and Databricks.
• Leadership experience- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage third-party partnerships.
• Hands-on with data pipelines- Skilled in building and managing data pipelines across multiple platforms.
• Data modelling expertise- Ability to translate business needs into scalable data structures.
• Knowledge of principles- Strong understanding of modern data architecture, modelling, and integration in cloud environments.
• Communication skills- Ability to build relationships and translate between business and technical teams.
• Continuous learner- Committed to staying updated with evolving data technologies and best practices.
