Job Title: Activities and Dementia Coordinator

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £27,343 per annum (pro rata)

Working Hours: Part time 19 hours per week

Working Pattern: Flexible part time hours

The difference you will make as an Activities and Dementia Coordinator

You will provide support, information, and guidance to people with Dementia, helping to maintain their independence, improve their well-being, and give them more control over their lives. This role involves identifying needs, accessing services, and creating engaging activity plans to foster a vibrant community. You will also recruit, support, and retain volunteers to ensure an active environment. The ideal candidate is caring, empathetic, friendly, and committed to enhancing residents' lives.

You will encourage residents emotionally, physically, and intellectually, providing a varied and dynamic support system. Working with customers, families, and staff, you will develop personalized care plans that go beyond basic needs, ensuring outstanding care and compliance with relevant standards.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Enthusiasm for dementia care and working with people
  • Knowledge of Dementia, dementia care, and support
  • Experience with CQC standards and compliance
  • Ability to drive a mini bus
  • Willingness to attend Dementia Friends Champion training

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop individual and group engagement activities, including Life books, stories, memory boxes, and therapeutic activities
  • Manage a caseload of customers affected by dementia
  • Deliver Dementia Friends sessions across the organization
  • Ensure care plans meet best practices and customer aspirations
  • Support families, friends, and staff
  • Plan, fundraise, and deliver activities; maintain records
  • Conduct risk assessments and evaluate projects
  • Engage families and professionals in service delivery
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers and befrienders
  • Ensure compliance with ARCO and CQC standards
  • Oversee the aesthetics and customer service standards of the scheme
  • Build relationships with contractors and promote community engagement
  • Provide strategic advice to management
  • Work 5 days over 7, including occasional night shifts
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience and enthusiasm for dementia care
  • Knowledge of dementia and support standards
  • Experience with CQC compliance
  • Ability to drive a mini bus
  • Willingness to become a Dementia Friends Champion
  • Highly organized with strong communication and leadership skills

Desirable:

  • Social Care Qualification (e.g., NVQ 3, Dip in Dementia Awareness)
  • Experience with Enriched Opportunities Programme
  • Experience in hospitality and finance for older people
