Our Tier 1 Procurement team leads the market in providing innovative and complex advice to clients. Working with a Chambers ranked partner, this new hire will add to the depth of our offering and will specialise in Public Procurement advice for a 360 degree range of clients, including public, private, and third sector companies and organisations.

What you will be doing

This role will vary depending on client needs but will certainly involve:

  1. Providing practical and risk-based advice on complex procurement issues, tendering procedures, procurement structures, and evaluation/qualification criteria and processes.
  2. Drafting and advising on all types of procurement documents (under the Public/Utilities/Concession Contracts Regulations, Provider Selection Regime, Procurement Act, and private sector documents), including Tender Notices, Procurement Specific Questionnaires, Invitation Documents, assessment summaries, Transparency Notices, and all related procedures and protocols.
  3. Managing all aspects of procurement regulation for various clients, including commercial entities, charities, public sector bodies like local authorities, central government departments, NHS trusts, and registered providers of affordable housing, as well as bidders in these sectors.
  4. Participating proactively in marketing initiatives, such as writing articles, presenting at conferences, seminars, client events, B2B meetings with intermediaries, and attending networking events.
  5. Engaging in firm-wide and departmental training sessions, and attending monthly procurement working groups and sector interest groups or communities of practice.
  6. Training and developing junior legal staff and secretaries as appropriate.
What you will need

The firm has a Career Development Framework outlining the competencies expected of those at the Associate grade. For this role, we require:

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3-5 years of experience in procurement law.
  • A demonstrable interest in public procurement, state aid, and sectors such as housing, local government, energy, health, care, and construction/development.
  • Excellent technical skills.
  • Strong client focus and service orientation.
  • Drive and enthusiasm.
  • Methodical, disciplined, and organized approach.
  • A strong team player.
  • Excellent academic record.
