A School Engagement Assistant is required to join the UK Recruitment & Access department to support the University in delivering its ambition and strategy of widening access to education. You will be a key part of the widening access team, which has recently undergone an extensive strategic review, presenting an exciting opportunity to join the department.

You will actively engage with and deliver our re-developed schools engagement programme and support a broad range of access and articulation programmes. You will be part of a small team, working to support and ensure the smooth operation of wider access initiatives.

Job Description

RESPONSIBLE TO: Regional Schools Engagement Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory responsibility

PURPOSE OF POST: To assist in coordinating and delivering wider access programmes and developing the University's links with local partners such as schools and colleges.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  1. Assist with the coordination and delivery of wider access programmes, primarily focusing on secondary school engagement, and support articulation programmes throughout the academic year.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  3. Facilitate meetings with partners to define project scope and review progress.
  4. Coordinate orientation and support activities, ensuring their effective delivery and evaluation.
  5. Maintain accurate notes of meetings and project documentation.
  6. Monitor and track student progress, identify issues, and inform future initiatives.
  7. Deliver wider access programmes and activities as per the strategy.
  8. Coordinate and deliver ACES activities, liaising with stakeholders, pupils, and partners for successful execution.
  9. Create resources for workshops and presentations related to the ACES programme and other engagement events.
  10. Evaluate activities for wider access students, working with the team to ensure successful implementation.
  11. Build positive relationships with students and pupils.
  12. Ensure programmes run smoothly with logistical arrangements made in advance.
  13. Promote opportunities for study and engagement, including routes like Degree Link and other initiatives.

Essential Requirements

Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Skills
