Job description

We're looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Design team based in Liverpool. The team designs a wide range of building types and site redevelopments across various construction sectors such as education, retail, blue light, conservation, and commercial, serving both public and private clients.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you'll work within the Civil and Structural Engineering team, supporting the design of sustainable urban drainage systems. Your daily tasks will include:

  1. Producing and checking drainage design calculations, flood risk assessment reports, drawings, design models, strategies, and specifications.
  2. Coordinating drainage and civil engineering design information within the team and with other disciplines such as architecture, landscape architecture, and building services engineering.
  3. Setting sustainable drainage strategies and obtaining necessary consents via the local authority planning process, including pre-development enquiries and consultations with statutory authorities and flood risk management agencies.
  4. Occasionally visiting sites for surveys and inspections, and representing the civil engineering team at project meetings.
What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you:

  • Hold qualifications such as BSc, MSc, BEng, or MEng in Civil Engineering or Environmental Sciences, and are a Member or Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, CIWEM, or similar.
  • Have relevant knowledge of underground drainage design to European Standards, experience with SUDS systems, and practical use of Innovyze InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage software. Experience consulting with sewer operators and environmental agencies is essential.
  • Possess a full driving license for site visits and meetings.
